Google meet recording – practising the how to….

Why is it that it always captures you at your not so greatest moment?!?!!?

Day 2

Another full on day of learning!

Feeling a little overwhelmed with the sheer amount of content. However, I realise that I can’t physically do it all and will pick out what is relevant or I feel will work with or learners.

Learn Create Share – are the base boards of out whare that is our learning

Learn is how we create effective practice that engages our learners and meet their needs in the digital world.

Deep Dive – Google Keep. Note taking digitally. Found on google as the light bulb icon

Hapara – being able to work with your learners and not just a monitoring tool making sure they are on the right pages. Creating class groups and being able to work along side students

Gmail – creating an easier work flow. The cog has the settings to change the out look and format of what the gmail page looks like. Being able to star improtant emails and grouping.

The lock and clock icon locks messages so that they can not be copied etc – in settings

Thinking around having a differnet app to open personal gmail so that there is not confusion as to which account you are in???

Takeaway – UNDO button – set at 30seconds. Have 30 seconds to recall email to edit etc.

Google Calendar – how does this work for me in a classroom setting? I use it on my phone but am still a pen and paper girl with a diary and planner. I find this easier to track but have dabbled in google calendars today and can see the benefit of using this especially as it shows google meets, meetings etc. Have set it up currently to show meetings. Will see how this goes…..work in progress.

Taming Our Tabs – Marie Kondo for google!!! Being able to condense or group tabs rather than having several open. The lollypops – can click and drag onto bookmarks. Pin tabs – right click to pin. Means that the tab can not be shut until it is unpinned – great for that ooops every now and then! Grouping tabs, Toby mini, Tab snooze and Workona.

Again a great time to be able to test and try! Need to find some time to clean up my emails and again personalise it. A bit of sand pit playing….

Bonus of the day

Lunch in the sun and a couple of chapters of my book!

On another note…….. Who knew there was a skinny snowman, lollypops and hotdogs!

I’d only just got my head around the waffle!

  1. Kia ora Liisa,

Oh gosh – those thumbnails at the beginning of your video – they are never good, even if you sit perfectly still while it starts to record! It’s great to see that you are looking through the content of the day and highlighting the things you think will be most beneficial for you. It took me a few tries to come round to using Google Calendar, but now I couldn’t live without it! Being able to see everything at a glance is so helpful. And it’s also good to think about how many of these tips and tricks are ones that will be beneficial for your students too?
    See you tomorrow!

It was awsome chatting with you during this session and getting to hear some more of your journey. It is always great to get time in the sun and learning silly names that can keep in your head for different buttons.

    Keep up the awesome mahi.
